From Demons to the Sphinx

I've been playing a U/B Demons deck for the past few months. It's a good deck. Themes include demons(!), creature stealing, taking extra turns, great sweepers, and fun artifacts. But, it was time to try something new.

I am currently working on a Sharuum the Hegemon deck. The first version includes lots of tutors, artifact creatures (sphinxes and more), even more fun artifacts, and support cards. I tried it out last night with mixed results.

With so many "search your library" effects, not a turn goes by without having to shuffle my library. It makes for a consistent experience, even with 100 single copies of cards, but it's not a whole lot of fun. It draws the game out, making a simple turn much longer than I'd like.

I'm thinking of switching it up so that there are no tutoring effects other than fetchlands. There is still nothing worse that not getting mana or not getting the colors I need. But otherwise, cards that simply draw more off the top (Sign in Blood) or manipulate the next draw (Impulse) will maintain some consistency without the need to shuffle all the time.
